NetApp, Inc., a big data company on the move
If you watched the Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday, February 3, 2013, you may have not noticed the NetApp, Inc. But it was the company behind all data collected by the NFL, protected that data, and shared it with millions around the world. It was the official data storage provider for the NFL. External drives mainly used to extend storage capacity of the computer, to back up data, and to share data between computers.
Founded in 1992, the Sunnyvale, California based NetApp, Inc. provide multinational computer storage and data management services. NetApp has a portfolio of applications, virtualization, cloud, and service provider solutions. It is the largest storage provider to the U.S. government and the number one storage maker in the Germany. It is the second largest seller of external disk-storage behind EMC. Its largest software product, ONTAP 8, eliminates planned downtime and protect against double disk failures. NetApp offers two storage platforms. Its FAS/V (Fabric Attached Storage V) series storage systems are designed for high performance. Its E-Series system offers original equipment manufacturer (OEM) modular storage platform. The U.S. Nasdaq listed (NTAP) company shares are climbing upward lately in spite of worldwide slow down on computer sales.
